Training Description

Most clinicians feel confident with Affective Expression work—it’s often squarely within our comfort zone. Regulation, on the other hand, can feel more challenging, and many of us are less sure about how to teach these skills effectively to caregivers.

This live, virtual training is intended for behavioral health team members, including clinicians, peers, case managers, social workers, counselors, and supervisors. This training will utilize case examples to deepen learning and provide evidence-based strategies and tools for attendees to help children and teens manage their emotions and strengthen caregiver-child relationships in their practice settings.

Learning Objectives

  1. Implement two or more Emotion Coaching strategies that are trauma-informed to help caregivers partner with their children to achieve better emotion regulation.
  2. Apply two or more approaches for guiding and supporting caregivers with increasing their capacity to reflect on their child’s and their own feelings to foster emotional growth and stronger connections.
  3. Apply at least one Emotion Coaching strategy for helping youth achieve better affect regulation, resulting in less explosive anger, irritability, and other challenging behaviors.
  4. Implement at least one method for empowering children to access caregivers as supportive resources rather than “fixers” to promote emotional growth.

Upon completing the live virtual training, you will receive a Certificate of Attendance for attending the training.
