Are you a new Peer Support Specialist looking for training on HIPAA? Maybe you have been working as a Peer for some time and would like to improve your HIPAA knowledge? The HIPAA for Peers training is for all Peer Support Specialists who want to be sure they are complying with HIPAA requirements and not placing themselves or their agency at risk. We will discuss what HIPAA is, how to know if you and your agency are subject to HIPAA regulations, and why it’s important to understand and comply. We will also discuss state privacy laws and 42 CFR Part 2 and how they apply to the work of Peer Support Specialists.

This will be a highly interactive webinar. Your participation and questions are important to ensure you have a successful experience!

Objectives

Participants will be able to explain what Protected Health Information is and why and how it is protected by HIPAA regulations.
Participants will be able to explain the difference between HIPAA Privacy and Security.
Participants will gain an understanding of when 42 CFR Part 2 applies to their work.

All activities in this training are offered for continuing education credit excluding any breaks. CE Certificates of Completion will be emailed within two weeks of processing your completed online evaluation.
