Training Description

When a child or teen exhibits problematic sexual behaviors (PSBs), it can trigger fear, confusion, and a sense of helplessness in even the most seasoned caregivers, educators, and mental health professionals. The youth is often misunderstood—and surrounded by deeply ingrained myths that can prevent effective treatment and support. One of the most common misconceptions? Working with youth with PSB requires years of highly specialized training and that these youth are destined to remain a danger to others. But the truth tells a different story—one of hope, responsiveness, and successful intervention.

During this workshop, we’ll dismantle the myths and shed light on what the research really shows: with appropriate, evidence-based treatment, up to 95% of youth who engage in PSBs do not reoffend and are fully capable of living safely in their communities. Whether you're a therapist, case manager, social worker, educator, or other youth-serving professional, this session will give you the confidence and tools you need to make a meaningful difference.

Join us to discover

  • The most persistent myths about youth with PSBs—and why they’re wrong
  • Key facts from the latest research that challenges fear-based assumptions
  • Simple, concrete tools any provider can use to support healing and accountability
  • Why traditional outpatient settings are often sufficient for effective intervention

Upon completing the live virtual training, you will receive a Certificate of Attendance for attending the training.
