Recorded Webinar Description

As immigrant families continue to face ongoing threats, fear of detention and deportation, and chronic toxic stress, providers are being called to respond in real time—often without clear guidance or sufficient tools. Many clinicians are left asking: How do I show up effectively? What actually helps?

This training centers the experiences of immigrant communities, with a focus on Latiné families, and equips providers with trauma-informed, culturally responsive strategies that can be used immediately in practice.

Participants will leave with tools for psychoeducation, coping and regulation, safety planning, and trauma-focused care—while also building the capacity to sustain themselves in this challenging and critical work.

Learning Objectives

  1. Explain what events/circumstances create traumatic separation and identify at least five common symptoms of separation trauma among immigrant children in their clinical practice to inform assessment and treatment goals.
  2. Explain what events/circumstances create ethno-racial trauma and identify at least five common symptoms of discrimination-related trauma among immigrants and persons of color in their clinical practice to inform treatment approaches that support healing.
  3. Apply the five steps in a cultural formulation interview in their clinical practice with immigrant families to support culturally responsive clinical assessments and goal planning.
  4. Identify at least five evidence supported resources for incorporating culturally responsive psychoeducational programming into their clinical setting to lower stress, increase stabilization, and promote healing among immigrant families.
