Training Description
As immigrant families continue to face ongoing threats, fear of detention and deportation, and chronic toxic stress, providers are being called to respond in real time—often without clear guidance or sufficient tools. Many clinicians are left asking: How do I show up effectively? What actually helps?
This training centers the experiences of immigrant communities, with a focus on Latiné families, and equips providers with trauma-informed, culturally responsive strategies that can be used immediately in practice.
Participants will leave with tools for psychoeducation, coping and regulation, safety planning, and trauma-focused care—while also building the capacity to sustain themselves in this challenging and critical work.
Join us to gain concrete, immediately applicable skills to:
- Recognize and define immigration-related trauma, including traumatic separation and discrimination
- Effectively engage immigrant families who may be fearful, mistrustful, or at risk of disengagement
- Assess trauma in ways that are culturally responsive and non-pathologizing
- Implement practical interventions to support healing and stabilization
- Strengthen safety planning in high-risk, rapidly changing circumstances
- Address your own secondary trauma and moral distress while doing this work
