Training Description

Are you new in your position and trying to understand HIPAA requirements? Or perhaps you’ve been in the field for a while and want to strengthen your knowledge and confidence in HIPAA compliance? 

HIPAA for Behavioral Health Team Members is designed for all behavioral health workers who want to ensure they are meeting HIPAA standards and protecting both themselves and their organizations from potential risks.

This training will cover: 

• What HIPAA is and why it matters 

• How to determine whether you and your agency are subject to HIPAA regulations

• The importance of maintaining compliance 

• Key differences between HIPAA, state privacy laws, and 42 CFR Part 2


Learning Objectives

  • Participants will be able to explain what Protected Health Information is and why and how it is protected by HIPAA regulations.
  • Participants will be able to explain the difference between HIPAA Privacy and Security. 
  • Participants will gain an understanding of when 42 CFR Part 2 applies to their work.

Upon completing the live virtual training, you will receive a Certificate of Attendance for attending the training.

Target Audience: Peer Support Specialists, Family Support Specialists, SUD Counselors, Residential Counselors, Intake Coordinators, Case Managers, Care Coordinators, Behavioral Health Technician, Rehabilitation Specialists, ASWs, AMFTs, APCCs, Service Coordinators, Counselors, Community Health Workers, Wraparound Facilitators, Bachelor or Master's-level unlicensed clinicians, any behavioral health staff interested in learning the basics of HIPAA compliance.

There is no known commercial support for this webinar.

All training materials will be provided the week prior to the training.


Refund Policy

By registering for this training, you agree to be responsible for the full registration fee, regardless of attendance. Refunds will be honored if a written cancellation request is received at least five (5) business days prior to the first day of the training. All approved refunds will be subject to a $25.00 processing fee, which will be deducted from the total refund amount. Please allow up to six (6) weeks from the date of the cancellation request for refunds to be processed.

Continuing Education

All activities in this training are offered for continuing education credit excluding any breaks. CE Certificates of Completion will be emailed within two weeks of processing your completed online evaluation.

CADTP

CIBHS is an approved provider for California Association of DUI Treatment Programs (CADTP) continuing education credits. CIBHS maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content. (Provider number 204)

LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs

CIBHS is an approved provider for the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) to sponsor continuing education. CIBHS maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content.
